Disgrace is a novel by South African author J.M. Coetzee published in 1999. It is one of Coetzee most acclaimed works and won the Booker Prize in 1999, making Coetzee the first author to win the award twice (he previously won for Life & Times of Michael K in 1983). The novel is set in post-apartheid South Africa and explores themes of power, redemption, guilt, and the complexities of human relationships.
