FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

“Far from the Madding Crowd” is a novel written by Thomas Hardy, first published in 1874. Set in rural England, it tells the story of Bathsheba Everdene, a headstrong and independent young woman who inherits a farm and attracts the attention of three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak, a shepherd; William Boldwood, a wealthy and mature bachelor; and Sergeant Francis Troy, a reckless and charismatic soldier. The novel explores themes of love, relationships, fate, and the consequences of decisions made in the heat of passion.
